A LETTER OF INQUIRY TO KENYA MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OVER AN ALLEGED CHILD MOLESTING DIPLOMAT

A LETTER OF INQUIRY TO MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS,THE PRESIDENT OF KENYA HIS EXCELLENCY UHURU KENYATTA, CONCERNING THE ACCUSATIONS OF CHILD MOLESTATION ON AMBASSADOR MOI LEMOSHIRA. CC MINISTRY OF GENDER ,KEWOPA AND DIPLOMATIC COUNCIL . There have been numerous publications on various news paper with identical story where a 22 years old Ethiopian teen mother Ms Fatma is claiming that the ambassador/alleged child molester lured her into his embassy office when she was only 16 and broke her virginity because he was lonely.(Her passport shows her date of birth) The alleged child molester continued taking advantage of Fatma for another two years where she got pregnant then he was transferred to Algeria, Fatma flew to Kenya in 2014 and came to your offices Foreign Affairs ministry to see if she could get any assistance tracking ambassador Moi but your office was not so welcoming. Regardless to get Fatma out of your hair because she was making a scene you reluctantly contacted ambassador Moi who in return wired some air ticket money to Fatuma who flew back to Ethiopia. (Fatma kept the proof of wire transfer and her entry and exit stamp to and from Kenya). This is some serious allegations facing ambassador Lemoshira because of the following possible offenses if it's true, 1,SEX TRAFFICKING charges in sense that he allegedly took the 16 years old Ethiopian in his embassy office which is considered same as being in Kenya. So he allegedly imported a 16 years old Ethiopian child for sex purposes to Kenya. 2,CHILD MOLESTATION charges considering Fatma was only 16 years old when he lured her and broke her virginity by claiming he was so lonely and the child felt sorry for him. (mind games) 3, STATUTORY RAPE because considering Fatma was under age and still under her parental care. 4,if the accusations are true then ARTICLE SIX OF THE KENYAN CONSTITUTION has been breached. 5,If the allegations are true the he has gone against the AU memorandum, 6, He has breached the MAPUTO PROTOCOL . 7,UN treaty on human rights and children rights have been breached. 8.If it's true then we are dealing with a CHILD PREDATOR. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kenya) Kindly make a statement regarding this allegations,Tell us what is your position regarding the above crime, If it's true what disciplinary actions will you take against the ALLEGED CHILD MOLESTER? Will you give Ms Fatma and her child Justice ? Will you investigate if there are more victims we may not know of ?Deep inside am having some contention that this predatory behavior didn't start overnight.' We believe in our foreign affairs ministry and we know you will never side with perpetrators or become child molesters apologists. Looking forward for your statement regarding the above allegations. Regards Semeiyan Mashua Sharp ...Human and women rights defender. http://www.sde.co.ke/m/thenairobian/article/2000211838/ambassador-broke-my-virginity-in-his-office-at-16-woman

Global Whistle blower Lucy Mashua Sharp .

BREAKING By Kurgat Marindany Global whistle blower puts Nkedianye’s actions to question Kajiado governor David Nkedianye was yesterday put under spotlight over his alleged “patronage and meddling” of jobs distribution in the county. Chairperson of Global Stop FGM Campaign, Ambassador Lucy Semeyian , who based in Dallas Texas, USA yesterday blew a whistle detailing how the county government discriminate on job seekers. Semeyian’ message on her twitter handle explained how one, Eng. Leshinka Nkurrunka was interviewed for a position of Technical Manager at Olkejuado Water Services Company and scored top points but was later denied the job because of alleged “clanism”. Former Interior CS, Joseph ole Lenku and Kajiado Woman Representative, Mary Seneta both picked up Semeyian’s tweet and the matter went viral. The two pointed accusing fingers at governor Nkedianye and claimed Nkurrunka is just one example of many wrongs in the county government and questioned the rationale it uses in hiring civil servants. Our attempts to reach Nkedianye on his cell phone were not fruitful as he failed to pick it and could not even respond to our message asking him to respond to his accusers. A copy of a letter attached to Semeyian’s tweet that was addressed to Nkurrunka and signed by one, Catherine from Tanathi Water Service Board, which interviewed him for the job, says in part; “This is to inform you you emerged the top most suitable candidate band therefore yo u have been appointed technical manager at OLWASCO”. This was never to be because the Egerton University water engineering graduate was replaced by a diploma holder, Robert Munei. In the county government advert that was placed on a local national newspaper, the minimal requirement for the position was a degree holder in water engineering. Munei during the interview that was conducted at the East African Portland scored 296 points out of a possible 600 marks (49 per cent) while Nkurrunka scored 493 marks out of 600 (76 per cent). Lenku said; “What happened to the man is discrimination, he met all the qualifications but nepotism by the county government denied him a chance. I vow that this will never happen under my administration when I become the next governor.” “I personally called Nkurrunka and I was saddened by the rejection he felt at that moment. Even with confirmation letter that he had been the best during the interview Nkedianye denied him a chance to serve after he was replaced by a diploma holder,” said Lenku yesterday on his twitter handle. Seneta said “This is unacceptable and is pure impunity on the side of the governor. I condemn with the strongest terms possible”.

FIRST LADY MAMA LUCY KIBAKI EMPOWERED ME!

HOW I REMEMBER MAMA LUCY KIBAKI, SHE OPENED MY EYES IN 2003 SIMPLY INSPIRING! I wrote a speech for her at the 13th ICASA International Conference on HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa,I was among thousands of youths that volunteered in various dockets , I was the head volunteer in community desk international relations and PR, Then a week close to the conference we received a message from the state house that our desk was entirely responsible with speech writing for the First Lady Mama Lucy and minister of health hon Charity Ngilu , We were all in panic because it was hard to please First Lady at least hon Ngilu was the cool .com, Well I stepped in and appointed several others to do it so we all began writing and by the end of the day I found out they had all wrote for the minister of health not the First Lady ,I remember staying up late to 4 in the morning in our office at KICC and I wrote the speech saved it in floppy disk and the desk top and emailed it to our supervisor Mrs Mary Kairo .The next day I came in at 9am a bit late and when I got inside the office everyone was cheering and clapping "Maasai you did it,Maasai you did it" and I was like "Yes we did it all of us did it" well the speech was delivered to the state house later that afternoon, I went through hon Ngilu's speech just added a little bit of my charm and it was delivered as well, The day before the conference the over 8000 international delegates started arriving they were jet lagged but they had to come in and get their registration packages that volunteers had put together, It was hectic they were tired and guess what I went to the intercom and started singing songs to cheer them up and volunteers down stairs would sing along,Everyone including delegates would clap and dance around, Come the day of the conference and it was time for First Lady Mama Lucy to address the attendees, (I was like she won't read the speech you wrote for her lol Seme stay in your lane) . Then she began reading the speech word by word I had memorized it and I was mouthing everything,I almost passed out I couldn't believe it. Then came Hon Ngilu's turn she read the speech my colleagues and I wrote word by word and I was so happy for my team. After the address First Lady was about to leave and then someone came looking for me and I was like 'Am I in trouble?' They said no First Lady want to talk to you , I said if it's about the speech I totally take full responsibility for letting my country down, lol before I knew it First Lady who hated waiting on anyone was coming my way and she was smiling phew! She said for a volunteer to write such a passionate speech about HIV&AIDS that was great, I said First Lady it was all team work we did it all together and some of the volunteers were living with HIV so they inspired the speech a lot because it was their reality they live it and am just positive at heart. And they wrote for the minister of health speech as well. First Lady told me that she sees the fire in me and she knows am not an embarrassment to the name LUCY she said this while reading my badge and she was like one day you will save your nation from any shame and don't let the MEN intimidate you because they are scared of a woman with a brain and you are beautiful they will give you hell! She thanked the team and then she walked away and turned around and said 'Rucy wewe ni ubwa kari 😂😂😂😂' I laughed and then I did something stupid I barked! She laughed like really loud and said Rucy's don't bark they bite !! Yes that's how former First Lady built me up and I saw in me what I knew i was supposed to be. May her soul rest in everlasting peace may her spirit of family values continue to be our moral guide by believing Kenya is a large family house where all Kenyans live in.
Yours truly Umbwa Kali who bites. Lucy.M.S ....✍🏾✍🏾

My speech March 7th 2015 at University of Oxford London.International Women's Day by Amb Lucy Mashua

My speech March 7th 2015 at University of Oxford London. International Women's Day by Amb Lucy Mashua (Speech read by Dr Tobe at Oxford University London UK on behalf of Lucy Mashua Sharp.) International Women's day March 7th 2015 on FGM in Oxford University London. Hello distinguished women and gender sensitive men. I take this honored day to say thank you to my sister and a friend of many years, Dr Tobe Levin for organizing this event, I want to thank Oxford University for opening doors so we can hold church here today LOL, (Event here today). Thank you all the wonderful live givers/ WOMEN who are here today and all the gender sensitive men here today, honoring the WOMEN of the world today, March 7th International Women's day. Please continue to imagine I am here and Dr Tobe is not reading this on my behalf and y'all will be fine. Women, we are the reason of joy, laughter, peace, love, respect, yet we hardly receive this back so we have to fight to receive at least a fraction of it back. Women, we are givers of lives, yet our lives are taken heartlessly away everyday, if not taken for granted. Women, we are compassionate, nurturing and empathetic yet we are treated like second, third class citizens, if not like nothing, or a solid matter. Women, we fight for our families, our clans, our villages, our nations, our races, our men and children yet when it comes to our God given rights we pay with tears and blood. Women, we are born perfectly with great feminine features, yet we are made to feel like it's a crime to be born a woman, there are all kinds of FEMALE GENDER AND SEXUALITY GENOCIDES.
From our genitals mercilessly mutilated hacked and fed to animals and our blood leaked by dogs and other animals. Everyday over 8000 Women and girls are mutilated in Africa alone, over 3 million annually. If we do the math and help WHO update their misleading global statistics from their 140 millions estimation for the last 3 decades, which has remained at 140, Yet everyday thousands are mutilated! I bet it's a man in charge of the statistics at WHO, a Mr Douche Bag III. I am so happy for the center stage and global shine FGM atrocity has been exposed. I salute Europe particularly UK for the excellent work y'all are doing here, in the US they are still lazy and unwilling, so please say a prayer for us before I burn the house down. UK you have led in the example of working with survivors and letting their voices lead the way, however there is a universal discrimination when it comes to fundings. It's the same everywhere, but I think in the US it's worse and its racist. Y'all want to use our voices and stories, yet you don't trust us with your money unless a white elephant supervises us, especially vocal black women, our campaigns remains behind keyboards and smartphones. Thank you UK authorities, from the parliament to the police, you have been tremendous heroes in the fight against FGM. I am really jealous of the UK activists, UK healthcare workers from surgeons to clinic officers, you have treated survivors with great honor and compassion. Thank you to all that provides repairs of fistula, hernia, vagina keloids, fibroids, cysts and scar tissues, you are all life savers, survivors lives with one, if not more permanent pains, and did I hear that Mr Douche Bag the IV said WOMEN are the weaker sex? Lol, the jokes is on him as we are the strongest sex! UK you lead, we follow, while others sleep, now enough of word of mouth, we join efforts weave from talks to actions.
There is Breast ironing where a hot iron is used to flatten women breasts to stop looking too female and sexual! There is teeth uprooting from the lower jaw, two middle teeth with pliers, or a good manly fist blow, so a woman's smile can not be too sexy! There is body marking/patterns with red hot iron, or knife to barbecue a woman's facial skin, because having a clear beautiful skin is too sexual and know women are sexual objects, not sexual beings, I know y'all agree with me on that one, *Irony*. There is the shaving of women hair to bald, because hair is too sexual for women. In the westernized world (developed world) women are not valued either there is forced prostitution, (Brothels and Massage parlors), where women are pimped by pimps after they take all of their money. Women are discriminated on jobs and hiring. You will find a well educated intelligent women like Dr Tobe (and I thank you all if you insist, you can call me Dr Mashua) hired as janitors, while a man like Mr Douche Bag, who never even finished college, is the senior supervisor of finances and after few months he bankrupts the company people, loses income only to replace him with Mr Douche Bag II. And that is why this is a man's world, but it's nothing without a woman or a girl, because all these fools are doing, is destroying the world and because women are super strong and intelligent, we still clean after them and try to rebuild this broken world destroyed by broken men. God bless the women of this world, we are still strong, even when everyone would understand if we give up. We are beaten down, stepped on, trampled down, yet we rise up again determined to fight like a wounded tiger and that is the STRENGTH OF A WOMAN, AND THE SOUL OF A WOMAN IS NEVER DESTROYED!
Yes, yes women stand up honor yourself, clap for your self, praise your self, dance with yourself, because you are worth it and you are the giver of life. Only in a woman's womb can another human grow indiscriminately. Without us there would be no life. Without us this world would be ugly! A Lion is the king of the jungle yet he bows for his queen! Men should be thrown in the jungle to learn from the lion on how to treat women as queens or be eaten! Women we should learn to be brave like lionesses and demand to be treated like Queens or else. We know the value of our sexuality and we know who the real weaker sex is?*wink* God bless the women of this world and the gender sensitive men. Thank you very much Ambassador Lucy Mashua Sharp Global Ambassador for fighting FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION, and standing up for Women's rights. President of Mashua voice for the voiceless. intl.inc At University of Oxford London March 7th 2015 read by Dr Tobe Levin on behalf of Me.

Dear supporters and people truly in the fight against FGM I would love to publicly inform you that I know first hand president Obama is against FGM please read the letter he personally wrote to me in 2007 before he was even the president,I know former secretary of state and the office of Ambassador Verveer Global women issues since 2009 I personally took care of my expenses all my trips to DC for all the meetings, My Rep Eddie Bernice Johnson has been very supportive in the fight against FGM, I walked bare footed in DC from one office to another asking members of congress and the senate to support a bill that will protect the over 280,000 US girls at risk. I requested the U.S. Department of State through the office of Ambassador Verveer Global Women Issues to observe INTERNATIONAL ZERO TOLERANCE DAY AGAINST FGM I never stopped asking and yes through my efforts it happened for the first time in the US in 2012. The offices that i attest were very supportive and I still believe in them and I don't believe they would ever invite a PRO FGM ACTIVIST IN ANY OF THEIR MEETINGS! So now I am receiving threats as to why I am questioning who could have invited a very well known PRO-FGM AND GAVE HER THE FLOOR TO INCITE CHILD ABUSE,BREAK THE INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS LAW (MAPUTO PROTOCOL) IN THE WHITE HOUSE? London Members of Parliament home affairs committee takes a stand against FGM and girl's at risk protection, early detection! Yes! Compiled reports by Standard London,Jacqueline Dale Shaw-Mashua Against FGM,Hilary Burrage-No FGMBook, and Amb Lucy Mashua

#CATCHTHISFGMITSUCKSTOBEYOU!-- Doctors, teachers and other public workers were today told that 'cultural sensitivities' must no longer obstruct the fight against female genital mutilation as MPs called for a national campaign to stamp out the practice. The Home Affairs Select Committee said that 'misplaced concerns' about challenging traditional practices within some ethnic communities were 'one of the main reason' why girls living in Britain were still suffering mutilation. The warnings came in a report on the scale of FGM, which calls for a national action plan and the regular medical examination of girls at 'high risk'. Changes in the law would include the introduction of 'FGM protection orders' and a legal duty for doctors to report mutilation. "FGM is not cultural, it is criminal; it is not tribal, it is torture; it is not an initiation but inhumane. Those who conduct this abuse, or silently standy by whilst it occurs, should and will be relentlessly pursued with the full force of the law"
My friend Member of Parliament Karl Turner the fight against FGM brought us together,He is one hell of a good person,I even asked him to meet with some of my UK partners of our GLOBAL FGM STATEMENT and he said "sure Mashua".Thank you chairman Keith Vaz MP,Mp Turner and all the MPs in home affairs office.Thank you for stamping the atrocious beast down! The report that was published July 3rd by House of Commons Home Affairs Committee. The Committee chaired by Keith Vaz MP, reflects much of what we (Honorary members of Global statement on FGM) proposed click here to view http://statementonfgm.com/2013/08/28/feminist-statement-on-naming-and-abolition-of-female-genital-mutilation/ – compulsory PSHE, proper training for concerned practitioners, more support for community activists. The British Government’s FGM agenda has moved on, as activists globally and domestically have campaigned relentlessly for action to eradicate what the Home Affairs Committee (Vaz) Report tells us, even on conservative estimates, is probably ‘one of the most prevalent forms of severe child abuse in the UK‘ [para 14]. There is much in the Report to commend it. Amongst other measures the cross-party Committee affirms that FGM is embedded in patriarchy and calls for a national action plan – perhaps like that emerging in 2011? – to address this criminal gender-based violence and extreme form of child abuse [8]; proposes some amendment of the law to make prosecution easier [97] (mainly, to include people who are not permanently resident) chastises the police [76] for failing to make significant efforts to apprehend offenders – whether as principals or as accessories after the fact (but more could be said about the need for a diverse police force which understands and can read the signs from different communities); suggests that FGM victims should be given press and broadcast anonymity [36]; recommends the Multi-Agency Practice Guidelines are updated and placed on a statutory footing [45] (the Committee says they require active promotion, and queries why the General Practitioners are not signatories [44]); recognises the urgent need for more training of front-line professionals and practitioners [44] across the health, education and social services (though it fails to say by whom); calls for much more accurate information on where [11] and on how many girls and women FGM is carried out [12] (some systematic data collection has just been instigated); would like to see more personal and health – including psychological and psychiatric [107] – FGM care provision across the nation [106], as well as dedicated FGM shelters [110]; proposes clarification of the status of re-infibulation [88] and genital cosmetic surgery [89]; praises the third and voluntary sectors, and individual campaigners, for their steadfast work to raise awareness of FGM and says they need much more resourcing [104] (albeit not how this will be made available); proposes that all antenatal booking interviews include a question on the mother’s FGM status [56] and that any perceived risk of FGM be entered in baby girls’ Personal Child Health Record (Red Books) as well as alerting safeguarding authorities [57] (but the Committee doesn’t propose any single route for this alert); acknowledges the case for some enabling of medical examination when girls are thought to be, or to have been, at risk [37] (but with typical British reticence rejects routine examination of all small children such as in France, where many prosecutions have been secured – and where paediatric health checks are the norm); commends the Secretary of State for Education for his recent letter to schools on FGM (and suggests re-ending it, with a link to funding to encourage all recipients to read it) [66]; and … crucially, puts aside Ministerial reservations [63] to recommend that personal, social and health education (PSHE) must at last become part of the compulsory curriculum, and that all headteachers and child protection officers must have FGM and forced marriage safeguarding training, to be disseminated to staff before the end of 2014 [66]. The recommendation for compulsory PSHE, including information on FGM in high-prevalence areas [67] is a big breakthrough which, if it happens, will be widely celebrated by everyone with an informed view.
Thank you Hilary Burrage for candid informative report. UK way to lead this fight against FGM and protecting British girls.

As long as there is a law that bans FGM in Kenya the director of public prosecution in Kenya (DPP) Sir Keriakor Tobiko will not give in to the demands of some Kenyan members of parliament, government officials(chiefs) and Maasai women community leaders who are Pro-FGM excusing this atrocity as culture!By Ambassador Lucy Mashua Sharp

Despite resistance to ending FGM, the DPP Mr Tobiko has pledged to pursue the issue. I have no powers to abrogate legislation that has been enacted by parliament. For as long as that legislation is there, I will enforce it."DPP said While indicating that he would not waver on the issue! DPP and I come from the Maasai community and we know the road to end FGM is a bumpy ride and dangerous,I have been in talks with Mr Tobiko back and fourth he is easily accessible and a very humble straight forward person,We are brainstorming together week days and sometimes over the weekend as it happens and we are teaming up to take this fight to the next level. But first we start with our own community as charity begins at home. After many of you international Anti-FGM activists flooded my emails with question and on our ANTI-FGM facebook pages addressing your disappointment over the Pro-FGM demonstrations with over 2000 women and men community members from the Maasai demanding decriminalization of FGM in Kajiado. On June 12 to protest against a 2011 law specifically banning FGM.It was the second such demonstration held in the town this month.Well its not going to happen FGM is recognized as a human-right violation in the universal declaration on human-rights so as the global ambassador against FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION I argue Kenyan government to join DPP a government official who believes in human-rights a man who is passionately dedicated to fight this good fight Mr Tobiko is the first DIRECTOR OF PROSECUTION in Africa to appoint Anti-FGM officers in all the counties to fight and educate against the FGM,Anti-FGM activists in Kenya and I to restore the dignity of womanhood and stopping the robbing of childhood,It's torture,it's deadly,it's painful and it is a slow death sentence of women reproductive system. FGM is also illegal under the 2001 Children's Act, and a new bill on domestic violence due to be tabled in parliament is to introduce stiffer penalties for those who practice it. Do you think this is right? in the Maasai community do you know how many child brides and women bleed to death everyday giving birth and instant mutilation? Due to lack of proper and sufficient medical attention,Fistula cases are 2 out of 5 Maasai women is this worth it? Come on its not a curse it's called FGM complications a darkness that haunts a woman forever,Even when you get reconstructive surgery you never gain what was robbed from you!Is this fair? 2 out of 20 women suffer vagina keloids,HERE ARE MYTHS AND LIES FROM THE PIT OF HELL JUSTIFYING FGM.Maasai community in Kajiado who refuse to give up FGM views.Baby Malaika is only one year old but her mother has already decided that she will undergo the procedure,Baby Malaika's mother said her other four daughters faced the FGM after they reached the age of ten. She does not understand why FGM is illegal given the cultural belief that it averts a curse on the wider family. "If a girl is not mutilated,it is a curse," she said. "Her parents, her sisters and her brothers will die early. So if a girl refuses to be mutilated, she is cursing her family and she is an enemy and so are the anti-FGM activists. "These things are real, we have seen them happen. There is a man in this village who died after his unmutilated daughter became pregnant." Last month, a girl died in Kajiado after she underwent FGM and bled to death. Malaika's mother said the girl died because she was already cursed.(This doesn't make sense so you can undergo FGM and still remain cursed? what a myth)oooh wait a minute here comes an "explanation" and "justification" for the 1st degree MURDER!. "The curse caused the death of the girl. One of her parents wanted her to be mutilated and the other parent was opposed to it. That was already a curse. She died because of the disagreement. No one ever died because of FGM," Maliaka's mother said.
Another problem is that women who have not undergone FGM cannot be assisted during childbirth because the Maasai believe it is a curse to touch the blood of a female who has not been mutilated. Ben Seiya took part in the June 12 demonstration and also attended mediation talks with government representatives who travelled to Kajiado to listen to the protesters' concerns. He believes the practice will end one day, but he is not yet prepared to abandon his belief in it. "My wife is mutilated, and if I marry a second wife she has to be mutilated,"Said Ben. "If she is not mutilated when she is giving birth, no woman will help her as they cannot touch her blood. Also, you know that I will be belittled if I have a woman who is unmutilated for a wife." "
This one here is that child bride an FGM survivor giving birth imagine the unimaginable,With villages far away from nearest medical clinic and no doctor to take this child to an emergency C-section both the baby and the child mama will die.
The above picture shows an a stitched up vagina with a small hole for urine only to be reopened as soon as the first night as a child bride. Really any government that will be inhuman enough to allow such torturous treatment masking as culture to happen to her children they should face crimes against humanity! Any government official that supports this atrocity should be fired! In Kenya, chiefs are low-level administrators appointed as part of policing mechanisms to help maintain order in their local area. The June protests followed recent cases where chiefs have been charged with complicity in FGM in their own communities. Lekishon Moriaso, a chief serving in Kenya's Narok South District, appeared in court in April after his two daughters underwent FGM. He was charged with aiding the operation and with knowingly allowing it to take place in his home. Meanwhile, Joshua Kaaka, a chief in Kajiado, is facing charges of failing to report acts of FGM carried out against several girls in his area. DPP told me the two cases are still in court. Unconfirmed news is the chief who were charged by the prosecutor on FGM charges where even a girl bled to death lead and organised the PRO-FGM demonstration on June 12. When the Kenyan parliament debated the issue on June 17, members from some areas where FGM remains widespread called for the ban to be lifted. Jimmy Angwenyi, the member for Kitutu Chache North, told parliament that FGM was an important cultural institution and those practicing it should not face prosecution. "I wonder why this parliament wants to criminalise people's culture," he said. "The Kisii culture is that we must mutilate our girls." The member of parliament for Nyamira, Alice Chae, an ethnic Kisii who is a survivor of FGM, rounded on Angwenyi. "I wish he was a woman like me who underwent it [FGM] and is surviving," she said. "It is wrong, it is pathetic, and it is primitive."! I have said so many times that politicians and some members of parliament in Kenya value their political career over the lives of their constituents, They would rather bite their tongue not to say anything so that they don't lose the bloody votes, and some will promote FGM to please the mutilators for the bloody votes.I ask president Uhuru Kenyatta,1st Lady of Kenya, and 2nd Lady Mrs Ruto to not allow any pussy footing around dangerous cultures that destablise the future of women and children,Any culture that goes against the universal declaration of human-rights should be stopped asap!DPP sir Tobiko, ANTI-FGM activists on the ground, The newly appointed ANTI-FGM officers in the counties level by the office of director of prosecution and I the global ambassador for fighting against Female Genital Mutilation Lucy Mashua Sharp we will come up with educational guidelines to teach communities involved the true danger behind FGM and search for permanent solutions. Trial for the murder of the 13 years old Sohair al-Bata in Egypt is on, but the charges are ridiculous they are blaming allergic reaction and the dead girl excessive genital skin!! This is insulting and a big blow to FGM survivors and true FGM activists!and all those that have died from FGM. Lucy Mashua Sharp

We all remember about the sad story I shared with last year about 13 years old Sohair al-Bata who bled to death in Egypt now the doctor is in trial. The doctor will stand trial on Thursday on charges of female genital mutilation following the death of a 13-year-old girl who underwent FGM last June, marking the first prosecution since the practice was banned in Egypt. Sohair al-Bata'a died in June 2013 at Raslan Halawa's clinic. "The story unfolded when the victim's father filed a complaint, accusing the doctor of killing his daughter after performing an FGM operation," said Mona Amin, the general coordinator of National Population Council's national project for banning FGM. Her father will also stand trial for taking her to undergo the operation. During investigation, the father retracted from his initial police report statements accusing the doctor, instead, he claimed his daughter was suffering from pelvic pain, and was diagnosed of having "excess" skin that had to be removed through a doctor. Halawa has denied carrying out FGM. Instead, he stated that the victim suffered from "excess" skin which he had removed by cauterization. He insisted that she died because of an allergic reaction to the anesthetic medication. The coroner, assigned by the Public Prosecution, held the doctor responsible for failing to test El-Batea for allergic reactions. However, he reported that medical intervention to remove "excess" skin was "right". The punishment for performing FGM is a prison sentence ranging from three months to two years or a fine of 5,000 Egyptian pounds. The investigation was pushed for by the National Population Council (NPC) last November, which demanded establishing a committee of forensic experts to verify the real cause of death, stated Amin. Based on the results of the investigation, the doctor was charged with wrongful death. He was also charged, along with the father, with performing FGM and referred to trial. At least 91 percent of Egyptian females in the age group 15-49 have undergone FGM, according to the 2008 census. Although doctors now perform 70 percent of these operations, traditional midwives and health barbers usually carried out the practice.
RIP baby girl no matter what your dad say or the doctor that killed you, You didn't deserve to die it was unnecessary, uncalled for, unkind, cruel, evil and atrocious! UK never cease to amuse me!:)Immigrants 'should sign FGM declaration before entering UK'

Campaigners called for immigrants to be required to sign a declaration promising not to subject their daughters to genital mutilation before being allowed into Britain. Leading figures in the fight against FGM called for a special pledge to be brought in to ensure everybody is clear that the practice is against the law. London MEP Marina Yannakoudakis said she will raise the issue with the government and called for more research to identify other countries that have introduced declarations. The idea of an FGM declaration was raised at a meeting of prominent London campaigners, organised by Ms Yannakoudakis to give their views on various anti-FGM initiatives. She said: “As people choose to move to Britain or elsewhere in Europe, it seems relevant to remind them of the social standards that apply here. “That should include an acceptance that certain practices are not only unacceptable but illegal. This proposal will form part of a package of recommendations which I plan to send to the UK Government and EU Commission.” GREAT IDEA ,ACTUALLY AWESOME.I SUPPORT IT 100% Ambassador Lucy S. FGM BLOOD ON THE FLOOR AND RAPE IN BED, THE PRICE OF FGM AND CHILD BRIDE.At 13 ,mutilated, married, pregnant and lost the baby due to Fistula caused by FGM and 5 reconstructive surgeries By Ambassador Lucy Mashua Sharp ,courtesy of Daily nation Kenya.

YES THIS CHILD BY THE TIME SHE WAS 13 YEARS OLD,SHE HAD BEEN MUTILATED, BECAME PREGNANT,LOST THE BABY DUE TO FISTULA(STILL BIRTH,DIVORCED.SHE SAYS SHE COULD NOT HOLD OR CONTROL URINE OR BOWEL MOVEMENT AND HAD NO IDEA THAT IT WAS FGM COMPLICATION, THE HUSBAND FORCED HER TO BE MUTILATED. FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION have been labelled “culture” and “tradition” by its proponents, dressed up to look and sound nice — sort of like painting the walls of a prison — but deep within it remains, at least to me, the lowest that a people can stoop. Hello dear reader. My name is Irene Chelegat. I am aged 20 and the story I want to tell you is based on my personal experiences, first, as a woman and, second, as a wife. It is a story that I hope will change the lives of my peers for the better, a story that I have been yearning to tell for a long time. I come from Kapenguria, a timid dusty town 430 kilometres to the north-west of Nairobi. I call the town timid because, over the years, I have watched it cow into submission as the scorching sun battles for supremacy with dry winds that lick life out of anything that stands in their way. And the hills that surround my little town have for centuries stood and watched in disturbing muteness, like witnesses to a crime, as the place loses the battle with the elements. Beneath that timidity, however, lies something more sinister and heart-wrenching. And I am the very personification of the effects of that sinister monster. It has been labelled “culture” and “tradition” by its proponents, dressed up to look and sound nice — sort of like painting the walls of a prison — but deep within it remains, at least to me, the lowest that a people can stoop. My reasons for that evaluation are four: One, I was 13 when I got married; two, I was 13 when I was mutilated; three, I was 13 when I lost my baby through obstructed labour; and, four, I was 13 when I was divorced. Yes, by the time the average Kenyan girl of my age was preparing for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination, I had been married and divorced, and left with scars that I have struggled with ever since. It is easy, then, to see why I may sound a little bitter about the timidity of Kapenguria. It all began in 2007, when I was a Standard Four pupil at Chepararia Primary School. I had just entered teenage and was beginning to notice changes in my body when a 24-year-old man asked me to be his girlfriend. He had pursued me for a while, but since I was in school most of the time, we could only meet during the holidays, when he would visit and bring me gifts. After a short while, I was hooked. When we eventually got intimate, I thought it was part of the normal friendship between boys and girls. After all, other girls reported having similar experiences during the holidays. After some time, however, I noticed I was growing round and plump, but I did not think much of it. It was only after I heard my boyfriend telling his friends that I was pregnant that I realised what was happening. Then aged 13, I had no idea what being pregnant was, but at least I now understood why my skin was dry, why I felt sleepy in the afternoons and had bouts of nausea. Most importantly, I understood that I was not sick, but that a baby was growing inside me. Consequently, I dropped out of school and moved in with my boyfriend. He did not have a steady job but managed to provide for us. I did not go for any antenatal visits, but towards the eighth month, he took me to a clinic in a place called Seger. The doctor insisted that I visit the clinic daily for check-ups, but I never went back. My boyfriend, now pressured by the turn of events, said he would marry me, but on condition that I agreed to be mutilated. You see, my community considers un-mutilated girls children, and therefore does allow children to give birth to children. So, to be a woman and a mother, I had to undergo FGM. I had been told about the pain involved, but my boyfriend insisted it was the only ticket to marriage. Since I did not want to shame my husband-to-be or my family, I agreed to undergo the procedure. Turns out the man had done his homework well and knew not only who would mutilate me, but how much we would have to pay for the procedure as well. Mutilation is a two-day affair here. The first day is marked by traditional dances and rituals. In the early morning cold, we sang traditional folk songs as red ochre was applied on our faces. There were older women around to take us through the steps of becoming a woman. Then the 81 of us made a timid file into a hut. From the mood and the terse talks, you could tell that it was a solemn occasion. Most of my fellow initiates were between 18 and 19 years. I was among the youngest, but that did not matter since we would all walk out as women. Two of the initiates were as heavily pregnant as I was. I had the privilege, or so I thought, of being the first under the knife. The circumciser, an old woman, had a razor in one hand and a spear in the other. The spear, we had been warned, was to stab anyone who showed any fear during the procedure. She charged Sh500 for the honour. She came up to me, her eyes glistening with excitement, pulled my face close to hers and asked if I had willingly chosen this path. Of course I had not, I wanted to tell her, but there was no backing out now. My marriage, honour and respect were at stake, and so I nodded my response. I knew what was expected of me at this point, so I immediately lay on my back and arched my legs. She smeared some warm ash on me and the next minute... I felt as if ants were clawing and sawing and pinching their way up my back. Chop. Chop. Slice. Each mutilation accompanied by such searing pain that I can’t put it into words. Rivulets of blood dripped down my thighs to the ground, but at least I was inching closer to being a woman. This was worth every drop of blood, right? When she was done, she bound my legs at the ankles and thighs with a sisal rope. As I continued bleeding, some women lifted me and placed me on the dewy grass outside the hut. I was numb from the pain, but that was just day one. The next day she would work on what was left of my “childish” parts. I could not move or walk or go to the toilet as the pain wracked my body. The second mutilation was even worse. The pain felt like a thousand daggers on my flesh. She cut everything out and stitched it all up again. I looked and felt like — how do I put this — a knee. All flat. No bumps. Nothing there. It was all gone. Unlike others, my wound took time to heal and when it did three weeks later, there was barely any opening, making urinating extremely painful for me. Then, as fate would have it, I went into labour shortly after the wound healed. The labour brought with it a fresh bout of pain that was beyond what I had imagined. My waters just broke unexpectedly, and for hours I did not go to the hospital. Eventually, my husband took me back to the clinic in Seger, where they said there was no passage for the baby, so I had to undergo an emergency operation. I was transferred to Ortum Mission hospital, north of Kitale, where they could save my life and, hopefully, that of my child. I was tired and weak, and each contraction took a little life out of me. By the time doctors performed a Caesarian Section on me, the baby had already died, possibly from the exhaustion. To make matters worse, when I came to, I realised I could not contain my urine or stool. I panicked and asked the doctor what was happening: “You are torn,” he replied, meaning I had developed a condition known as fistula. I was in hospital for six months. My husband one day came to visit me with a flask of tea. He offered me a cup and when I drank it, I wet my bed almost immediately. Ignorant of what fistula is, he said I was cursed and broke the news that he was leaving me for greener pastures. He accused me of being unfaithful and called some old men who told me that I would recover if I named the men I had cheated on my husband with. HUSBAND REMARRIED And so, while I was still aged 13, my husband remarried. He now has two wives, both of them my age mates. And, most importantly, mutilated. I was alone and destitute when my maternal aunt, who had been taking care of me since my mum died in 2004, came for me — here is where I get to tell you that I do not know my biological father. At home, I could not leave the house because of the stench I was releasing. I was scared of eating or drinking anything. For six years I endured shame, and my self-esteem hit rock bottom. Then one day I went back to Ortum Hospital for assistance and was referred to Moi Referral and Teaching Hospital in Eldoret. It was here that I met officers of the Sentinelles, a programme in West Pokot that intervenes in matters of FGM and early marriages, and which later introduced me to the African Medical and Research Foundation (Amref). During my stay at Moi Referral I discovered that my case was not unique. I saw hundreds of women with fistula. In fact, some cases were worse than mine. I was not cursed, after all! I underwent five reconstructive surgeries to repair the damage. It is now six months since my last operation in October last year and I am healed. My life is repaired, literally. But many other girls follow in my footsteps. My people should know that by subjecting their daughters and sisters to mutilation, they are not making them full women, but instead churning out broken women who believe they are cursed and useless. Female Genital Mutilation gives women a life of pain, misery and fistula, and I hope the government, through the Anti-FGM board led by Linah Jebii Kilimo, will go to the heart of timid Kapenguria and stop mutilation. One of the many saddest flashback From one FGM Survivor as she narrates to a blogger.. "How My Mother mutilated Me Then Married Me Off To a 60 Year Old" !

HERE IS THE STORY FROM ONE BRAVE SURVIVOR OF FGM AND CHILD MARRIAGE.(GRAB YOUR TISSUES). As you read this remember the FGM season is on in East Africa and come January many girls will be married off and kiss their childhood, and education goodbye:(. My name is Peris Lomurut. I am 20 Years old. I am from the tiny Rendille community. And I am a mother. To 4 children. I was born in January 16th 1993 in a tiny village, to the extreme north of Kenya. I attended Karare Primary School. But just briefly. Because in 2003,when I was in class 3,I was forcefully woken up by my mother and a team of some other three old, haggard women. It was 3am in the morning. Confused, they grabbed me. Shook me to consciousness and under the thick cover of darkness, whisked me off to some secluded location. I was confused. And unaware of what was going on. I tried to scream, but Mum held my mouth hard. And asked me to cooperate. I tried to free myself and run to safety, but I was too tiny. They easily overpowered me. After what seemed like an eternal journey, full of anguish and turmoil,I was pushed into a poorly-lit scraggly hut. And then I was dumped infront of a deathly-looking old woman. She grinned like a witch. And her eyes were cold. And hands were rough. Flipping me around, she ordered that the other women hold me down. And strip me NAKED. I was too young to comprehend the magnitude of this madness. And right there, other old women held me down,MY MOTHER INCLUDED. They stripped me naked. And ordered that I spread my legs. I refused. And started screaming and wailing. It was ALL in vain. A dirty piece of cloth was stuffed into my mouth. And I was firmly held down. And my legs forcefully pulled apart. I heard a blunt thing attempt to cut through my genitals. I heard it again. And by the third time,I think I passed out. I came to my senses HOURS later. It was daytime already. And Mum had hidden me at the back of our crumbling hut. I had been initiated to Womanhood. My genitals had been mutilated. And sown up. With a thorn. Yes,a sharp hard thorn. I had bled profusely. And now Mum and other wicked women were busy forcing me to swallow bitter concoctions of local herbs to alleviate my burning pain. It was Hell. My genitals were sewed up. Like a piece of torn cloth. I couldnt even pass urine. And anytime I attempted to do that, the pain would send me to the ground, writhing and cursing. After what seemed like forever, the wound healed. I was now the latest victim of Female Genital Mutilation. Following Year,in November 2004,My parents planned a forced marriage for me! Dad was there. Mum was there. My elder sisters were part of it. And one evening,an old man, well over 60 Years was introduced to me as my new groom. I almost collapsed. In shock. I excused myself. And pretended to have gone for a call of nature. But once I was outside,I fled. I ran away. And ended up at the Chief's camp. I met the chief. And,tearfully, narrated my ordeal to him. I was WRONG. Dead wrong. What happened is that, the chief pretended to pity me. And after I finished my story,he locked me up in a dark room. And told me he was hiding me. What a traitor! 30 minutes later,my parents and our whole clan showed up at the Chiefs camp. Plus the 60-Year old man. It later turned out that the Chief had sold me away. And alerted our people. Needless to say,a dozen sheep and goats were exchanged. As my bride price. And at the tender age of 11 Years,I became a wife. Sex began IMMEDIATELY. From the first night! And Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to say that it was the MOST PAINFUL sexual experience ever! Remember my genitals had been mutilated earlier. And tied up with bush strings and tiny thorns. In the MOST gory, inhuman and unprofessional manner. It wasnt just PAIN. It was HELL. I went numb. And almost passed out. I tried to protest and reason with this behemoth of a man. But my husband couldnt hear NONE of it. He subjected me to NOTHING but pure torture. For his OWN pleasure. For many, many cold nights. And from late 2004 to 2009,I was in a cold, disastrous, painful, loveless and forced marriage. And I was his FOURTH WIFE. To him,I wasnt a human being. Or an equal married partner. I was a sex toy. A baby-making machine. And sure enough,I DID MAKE Babies. Endlessly. I painfully gave birth to a string of 5 babies. Two of whom died. Due to ill health. And malnutrition. In 2009,I fled my marital home. And with the help of the St Augustine Catholic Church,I was whisked to Nairobi for safety. And mental rehabilitation. And for 4 Years now,I havent seen or heard from my parents. Or children. As I speak now, thousands of Rendille girls,Borana Girls and Samburu Girls and going through what I went through. As we speak now, some girl's tiny genitals are getting mutilated. If we dont ACT NOW. We will NEVER save the situation. There is a difference between CULTURE. And MADNESS. What I went through wasn't CULTURAL. That was DEMONIC. Pray for our sisters. Ambassador Lucy S. Parents now in Kenya bribing chiefs to secretly mutilate their daughters in the middle of night girls between 11-14 years old and marry them Sexual slavery, By Lucy Mashua Sharp (Courtesy of Standard Kenya)

West Pokot, KENYA: Hundreds of girls in East Pokot are said to have undergone Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) during the August holidays despite the practice being illegal. Parents in the region had their daughters mutilated as soon as the schools were closed last week. Sources claimed some parents have bribed local chiefs to allow the outlawed rite. In seven wards spread from Amaiya to Koloa alone, allegedly 216 girls aged between eleven and 14 were secretly taken through the ritual. Tangulbei Women’s Network against Gender Violence founder Mary Kuket said potential husbands have already approached the young girls for marriage in the next two weeks. She said many parents forced their daughters to undergo the FGM and urged the Government to step in and help stop the practice. “The community views them as women now ready to be married regardless of their age. This is very wrong and should be stopped,” she said. Kuket said although her network has stepped up anti-FGM and child marriage campaigns, the Government has failed to provide meaningful civic education to the residents especially those practicing it. At Tangulbei and Churo, she said women fighting against the practice have been forced to accommodate hundreds of girls fleeing their homes to escape the forceful mutilation until schools re-open next month. “In the entire East Pokot we have only two boarding schools that we have approached to keep the young girls in school to prevent them from being taken through the ritual, but we have to contribute towards their upkeep,” she said. She said the Government should protect the innocent girls and prosecute parents spearheading the practice. But East Pokot DC Daniel Kirui said he was not aware of such rites going on in the area, saying a surveillance team comprising chiefs and Administration Police to monitor and curtail such plans had been established. He warned of stern action against administrators condoning the vice.(Empty threats while children's human right is being abused) Ambassador Lucy Mashua Sharp, President of Mashua Voice for the Voiceless, International Assisting and advocating for U.S. refugees and women’s rights Global Ambassador for Ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)/Expert witness on human rights) Leading in lobbying for HR 2221: The Girl's Protection Act sponsored by Rep. The attack on Keir Starmer DPP was uncalled for and it was RACIST by Councillor Rakhia Ismail! Shame on you Rakhia! You owe that sweet man an APOLOGY!! FGM DO EXIST.By Ambassador Lucy Mashua Sharp.

Racism goes both ways! And now race cards are being played by FGM condoners / mutilators / ignorants / deniers and just the stupids!! Most African females that condone or deny FGM are using racism "White vs Black" to attack the white activists working and joining in the fight against FGM , Yes I know there is a history of white organisations that continue to use African problems like FGM and mortality rate for their own profit or 5 minutes of fame, and they make sure none of African led non-profits gets directly funded to fight FGM without them involved. But with that said I know tones of Westerners activists who genuinely condemn FGM and really are dedicated to help end this barbaric atrocious practice worldwide!!, So some few very few so called educated African females living in the west that condones or deny FGM they are using racism as a tool to silence the white activists and law makers who sincerely want to see the end of FGM , The attack on a top legal chief Keir Starmer by Councillor Rakhia Ismail ( Somali origin and a survivor of FGM herself) , was uncalled for , stupid, and just racist!! Shame on you Rakhia by ignoring FGM happens to this day and millions of young girls and women are suffering and because you have not done anything about FGM you are ashamed you are not voicing of problems affecting your very own because you are so full of your self it made you feel embarrassed when a white male tabled concern about FGM prosecutions in the UK!! Why be so defensive ma'am ? Are you guilty or embarrassed ? "Director of Public Prosections Keir Starmer told an audience at Islington Town Hall that no one had been prosecuted under a 28-year-old law banning female genital mutilation (FGM) in Britain because it was too difficult to do so.Instead, he suggested charges of child abuse should be brought." Tell me is there something wrong with a genuine concern like these?, Why would you launch an astonishing RACIST attack on someone who genuinely want human rights abusers prosecuted?, by calling him "white middle-class bourgeoisie” who think that “all ethnic minority people are barbaric”.Educate yourself FGM does not only happens in Africa or to African immigrants only it is also in the Middle East ! Who are you protecting, RACE,CULTURE,RELIGION or MUTILATORS ? Yes I know when you want to win a debate and to silence a strong opponent yell the word RACIST and you will succeed to silence your opponent and cowardly cheat into winning debate!! Which I think it's total bull crap and people who play this cards are full of crap!! Councillor Rakhia Ismail you owe the director of public prosecution an apology, you ought to be investigated and finally shame on you for playing the RACE card on a silent killer like FGM which happens every 8-11 seconds to be honest you are the RACIST!, you are also a derby downer to every genuine Anti FGM activist, you are also an embarrassment to African women especially we East African women, and finally shame on you for throwing FGM survivors and victims under the bus and for denying FGM is going on!! By the Global Ambassador for fighting FGM and standing up for Women rights Ambassador Lucy Mashua Sharp.

In Tanzania about 5,000 girls aged between 10 and 16 were rounded up for mutilation in one region alone in two weeks and government admits they have failed in the fight against FGM! The truth is in East Africa FGM is still on the rise and it is performed in secret and at night! by Lucy Mashua

A group of school girls begging the Tanzania government to intervene against FGM, About 5,000 girls aged between 10 and 16 were rounded up for mutilation in Mara region alone from mid-last month, according to statistics provided by regional authorities, but a campaign spearheaded by the government failed to net the culprits. Female genital mutilation,is a crime in this country. Ms Ummy Mwalimu, the deputy minister for Community Development, Gender and Children, says the government’s efforts did not bear fruit because of the complex nature of the rite, which is deeply rooted in culture and traditional beliefs. Cracking down on the perpetrators was made even more difficult by a conspiracy between heads of clans and village leaders, who are paid for looking the other way as the traditionalists round up girls for the mutilation. In an interview with The Citizen this week, Ms Mwalimu said the only weapon at the disposal of the government was public education. She added: “We cannot end this problem only by the force of the law. Our greatest hope is to create awareness. We have been trying to engage traditional leaders who are said to encourage the practice.” The crackdown on female genital mutilation in Mara region during the season that started on December 15 last year did not materialise despite the "public pronouncements and promises of government officials", ( PEOPLE I KEEP TELLING YOU DO NOT BUY PROPAGANDA OF ORGANISATIONS CLAIMING VILLAGES DENOUNCING FGM IN AFRICA !!! FGM CONTINUES AND THE NGOs CONTINUE GETTING RECOGNIZED FOR NOTHING!!).Only two arrest were made if only in one village this genital genocide happened in two weeks how about the whole country? The government have resulted in asking the girls to escape on their own and when they do they will receive rewards when they do so. In the meantime, the number of camps that house those who escape will be boosted. Girls who escape could also be cited for “Hero-Girls Awards”, according to Ms Mwalimu. Mara region currently has only one refuge--Masanga camp--which houses 314 girls who fled to safety last month. The rescue campaign will also include setting up gender desks in police stations in four wards in Tarime district, chiefly to provide information and support victims and would-be targets. The desks are to be set up away from district police offices and closer to the people. FGM is now performed at night and in secret and more dangerous now as mutilators can't see well as they butcher causing more death and snitches are killed too!! I say Tanzania government arrest all mutilators charge them with 1st degree murders and with intent to kill enough with smooth talks and fake public denouncements and to African governments kick out all foreign Organisations who are lying about public denouncement and fake promises by mutilators are working!! because they get to get recognized for 0 work and funded while our women and girls suffer and die because FGM still continue and more riskier than ever!! UNGA finally acts a ban on FGM :-), way to go now move from talks to action! Ambassador Mashua

It's about time!!! Way to go UNGA:-), now lets move from words to action!! The United Nations General Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution banning female genital mutilation (FGM), an instance of brutality, which around three million women and girls are forced to experience worldwide each year. The resolution, which was adopted on Thursday, described the practice as an "irreparable, irreversible abuse” and urged on member states to "take all necessary measures, including enacting and enforcing legislation to prohibit female genital mutilations and to protect women and girls from this form of violence," Reuters reported. The resolution, which is not legally binding, also expressed concern about "evidence of an increase in the incidence of female genital mutilations being carried out by medical personnel in all regions in which they are practiced." "This practice, justified on false pretenses by supposed cultural and religious tenets, remains a taboo subject, misunderstood and misinterpreted in several societies," Burkina Faso's UN Ambassador Der Kogda told the General Assembly. "We need to break the silence that has surrounded FGM...and move towards its elimination," Kogda said. I respect UN for admitting that they have been silence on FGM and that FGM has been on the increase and not on decrease as some other fame hungry organizations claim and ignore the real suffering of my people!! I am happy it is not the end of the World its a one step closer to ending FGM :-).! Ambassador Mashua

NAKURU TOWN,RIFT VALLEY PROVINCE FGM ON THE RISE IN URBAN AREA THIS FGM SEASON IN KENYA..BY LUCY MASHUA

The Director of Gap Link in Nakuru town Tom Mboya has said that Nakuru is among the major towns that are practicing Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the country. Speaking in Nakuru town on Friday morning during a press briefing, Mboya said that FGM had shifted from rural areas to urban areas ever since the government became tough on the communities which were still performing the act in the countryside. With reference to a recent research by the Gap Link, Mboya pointed that women visit their grand daughters who are living in major towns during the holiday season so as to perform FGM on the children without the government realizing. "FGM is on the rise in Nakuru town and that's why many grandmothers have adopted the new techniques of instead of the grand daughters visiting them in the rural areas to perform the FGM," Mboya noted. The Director of Gap Link called out on the government and women rights bodies to be extra vigilant during this holiday season. "During this holiday season and festive season the government and the women rights bodies need to be extra vigilant on the ground because this acts of FGM could be going on unnoticed by the systems," said Mboya.
